Project - Community Arts Project
"Seen it, done it, got creative"
A Shropshire Arts grant provided assistance towards a two full day arts project. Wyldwoods provided arts workshops to people over the age of 16 who are currently out of education or employment. The aim was to design and build a functional art piece from locally sourced materials. The piece was to be functional as well as artistic and become another part of the Wyldwoods adventure trail which is a wonderful work in progress.
Many more hours of activity took place, well over and above what the grant was able to cover, because those who participated enjoyed the experience so much.
Wyldwoods was also able to run a couple of pre-shelter building sessions with children of various ages who are educated at home. They created a wonderful prototype for the actual arts installation shelter. They thoroughly enjoyed their experiences , so much so that they have requested more activities at Wyldwoods during the summer holiday period.
Suzanne Webb-Thomas, who is a parent of 2 young people educated at home said "We attended the home-ed sessions earlier this month and I believe others that took part are planning to come back as well. The children very much enjoyed their shelter building workshop – thank you very much."
